This one day workshop is designed for individuals who have attended Part I: An Introduction to Dialectical Behavior Therapy or who for those who would like to advance their knowledge of individual DBT treatment. The goal of this workshop will be to extend beyond basic DBT individual strategies and techniques and move toward more advanced use of DBT individual treatment strategies and conceptualization. Through various role plays, clinical case examples, video-taped client-therapist interactions, and experiential exercises, participants will learn how to incorporate several DBT strategies into their practice. 6 CEUs will be awarded upon completion of the workshop.

Presenter Info: Denise D. Ben-Porath, Ph.D., earned her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Kent State University. She is a Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Ben-Porath has over 20 years of experience using DBT with difficult-to-treat, multi-disordered individuals. Her experience of applying DBT to various treatment settings extends to university counseling centers, day treatment programs, inpatient units, correctional settings, community mental health centers, and private practice settings. She has published numerous research papers on DBT treatment and maintains a private practice. As a former B-tech Trainer, she has trained thousands of individuals in DBT both national and internationally. Currently, she is director of DBP Training and Consulting, an organization that provides training and consulting services for practitioners interested in learning and applying DBT.
