Event Description

This workshop will provide participants the latest research and clinical information on cannabis use disorder and effective treatment techniques. The latest findings about how marijuana impact’s the brain and body will be presented, emphasizing the unique neuroscience research associated with marijuana dependence. Practical clinical guidance on how to help clients with cannabis withdrawal syndrome will be shared with participants. A wide array of evidence-based psychosocial approaches will be the focus of discussion and demonstration in the workshop. Co-occurring disorders that are associated with marijuana use and dependence will be discussed, emphasizing how to tailor treatment to be effective with clients who also are suffering from depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other common mental health disorders. The current research exploring medication-assisted approaches with cannabis use disorder clients will be presented. This workshop will include activities and demonstrations that will increase participants’ understanding and have them practice their use of this knowledge.
