Event Description
Do you often treat clients in a mental health setting who have a trauma history? Do you want to improve your knowledge and expertise to provide the best care in creating long-term change? This seminar offers a research-based perspective on trauma-informed care to be used in a clinical setting. Professionals frequently provide direct care to address other significant mental health issues without focusing on what is most often the core issue: trauma. Participants will develop and strengthen their understanding of how to assess for trauma and how it is impacting clients’ lives, increase client motivation for participating in long-term change by learning how to educate the client on trauma, reduce trauma symptoms by increasing the client’s coping and grounding skills, and improve their repertoire for trauma informed care interventions. If clients can use therapeutic treatment to safely move out of their comfort zone and into a place of confronting their trauma, significant positive change can occur Presented by: Milena Brumbaugh, LISW-S & Laura Valentino, LISW-S
