Event Description
Social service professionals face many ethical dilemmas in the electronic age. This course with our well-known presenter Stacy Simera will examine the risks and appropriate use of electronic media for personal and professional use – from boundary violations on Facebook to effective electronic service delivery. Presenter: Stacy Simera Stacy Simera, MSSA, LISW-S, was named the "Social Worker of the Year" for Ohio in 2014 by the Ohio chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. She is chair of the sleep committee for the Ohio Adolescent Health Partnership and has presented on the topic of sleep at various professional conferences including 2013 Ohio NASW Conference, 2013 Ohio Public Health Combined Conference, 2013 All-Ohio Institute on Community Psychiatry Conference, and the 2012 NASW National Convention in DC and was cited in an editorial: “Sleepless in America: School Start Times” in the British journal Education and Health. Stacy serves as Health Policy Director for the Ohio chapter of the national non-profit Start School Later, serves on the leadership committee of the Ohio NASW Social Work Advocacy Group, provides psychotherapy at Gary Robinson and Associates in Kent, is an adjunct instructor at Stark State College, conducts workshops for the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program, and facilitates a psycho-educational group on managing depression at the Oak Clinic for Multiple Sclerosis.
