TIME: 7:45 - 9 p.m.

Congratulations and thanks to every one of you for all of your contributions to our field during the last 9 months of incredible stress and trauma!  Thanks to our researchers, academic faculty, applied psychologists, administrators, practitioners, and students! We have faced and continue to face multiple traumas—the trauma of the COVID-19 pandemic; the traumas of systemic racism, ongoing police violence, and ongoing protests; the traumas of the intense political landscape we navigate each day; and the traumas of wildfires and hurricanes that may have touched those we love and care for who have been in the paths of those tragic events.  All of us have been touched and changed, and we know that guiding and helping clients, students, staff, and family members through these traumas can have its own impact on our own mental health. And if anything, the likelihood is high that our services in all the various arenas we work in are needed more than ever today and in the months ahead as all of us face the rolling consequences of these multiple traumas.

Your Prevention and Wellness Program wants to create an opportunity for us to gather in community and co-create a safe space in which we can share our ongoing struggles and concerns, no matter what setting we work in.  We also want to advocate and inspire each of you to develop your own effective self-care strategies to help all of us move forward.  Our hope is for each participant to leave the session committing to one additional self-care strategy for the months ahead.  The program will be co-facilitated by Howard Fradkin, Ph.D., Chair of PWP, and Jennifer Duncan, Psy.D.

Howard Fradkin, PhD, LICDC-CS has counseled over 1500 survivors of sexual victimization over the course of his 40-year career. He has educated over 2,500 professional colleagues on male sexual trauma. He provides expert consultation for the Ohio and Federal Public Defenders Office. In 2018, he retired after serving 15 years as Co-Chairperson of the Weekends of Recovery program and retired after 35 years from his private practice, Affirmations Psychological Services. He authored Joining Forces: Empowering Male Survivors to Thrive, published in 2012. He serves as Chairperson of the OPA Colleague Assistance Program and is a member of the Ethics Committee.

Jennifer Duncan, PsyD is a clinical psychologist in the Weight Management Institute at Summa Health located in Akron, OH. She provides mental health services to surgical and non-surgical weight management patients.  Services include psychological evaluation, psychological testing, and supportive psychotherapy to patients with eating and weight issues. In her free time Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, yoga, and ultrarunning.

Once your registration is processed, you will receive a confirmation email that includes instructions on how to join the online assembly.
