Ohio psychologists and their clients are increasingly using email and texting to communicate with each other for administrative and clinical purposes. This is occurring at times, however, without an apparent awareness by psychologists that there are professional standards, guidelines and laws that apply when using telecommunications with clients. Differences in the professional and personal uses of email and texting and for personal use are not always obvious. This webinar identifies relevant standards, guidelines and laws and issues when using email and texting with clients. Recommendations are provided that will assist in complying with them.

  • Attendees will be able to name at least  two sets of laws  relevant to the use of email and texting with clients.
  • Attendees will be able to identify at least two major psychology standards or guidelines that apply when communicating electronically with clients.
