Attention Students:

Silver linings… that’s how OPA feels about this year’s all new P.O.D.cast. Even though OPA canceled its 2020 Annual Convention due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our virtual P.O.D.cast shines through all the doom and gloom that seems to be surrounding us. Call it karma or just plain good luck, but it seems that 2020 was the perfect year to go virtual!

First, thank you to those students who have already submitted their virtual poster. ALL the submissions were fantastic! Your creativity really shined through, and we hope that you enjoyed this opportunity to try something new. We’ve been so inspired by your submissions that we want to encourage others to push themselves outside of their comfort zone, and give it a try. Since we are no longer tied to the convention schedule, we are extending our dates to allow for more individuals to participate.

• State Science Day, an annual event hosted by the Ohio Academy of Science in May, sees more than 1,200 students in grade 5-12 compete for more than $500,000 in sponsored awards and scholarships. PSYOHIO not only provides a team of judges for this event, but is also a paid sponsorship.

• The Michael Sullivan Diversity Scholarship Fund was created to provide financial assistance to support graduate student research projects in honor of Dr. Sullivan’s work with American Psychological Association, State, Provincial, and Territorial Psychological Associations and his commitment to diversity and inclusion. • OPA’s Oral History Project collects and archives the rich oral history of psychology in Ohio. More than 30 of these interviews are available online free to the public. Just last year, several Ohio high schools incorporated these videos into their curriculum.
